Installing LARGE dehumidifiers

Using Dryfan® technology EPD150/DH25XX & EPD200/DH35XX

professional grade dehumidifiers for RESTORATION that can even be used in the home

Both units differ in capacity and the way they work.   The EPD200 / DH35XX has two turbo fans rather than just one fan.  This extra fan allows “Pressure Neutral Drying” which is more efficient.

Difference between THE Desiccant models

USA “Pro” & European “Inox”

All DH & EPD models are mild steel with tough epoxy paint finish.  The USA “Pro” versions & Inox units sold in Europe and the rest of the world are Stainless Steel.

Boats, Catering & Hygiene

Stainless steel models are often used in boating applications, for storing food & catering environments where the casing is more resistant to salt or cleaning with harsh chemicals.

EPD150/DH25XX & EPD200/DH35XX do not have a humidistat fitted unlike EPD30/DH8XX & EPD50/DH12XX

An external humidistat will need to be fitted to regulated automatically the humidity of the air.  If these dehumidifiers are mounted remotely then the humidistat should be placed in the area that needs to be monitored.

Select The Right Model for Typical Commercial Applications

Information is should be classed as a rule of thumb.  Consider the average temperature the dehumidifier will be working in.

dehumidifiers for basements 1000 sq ft

Can use in all applications under the home e.g.

crawl spaces

Keep the air circulating around the space using a duct in or out to help distribute air

Example A – Most common installation for either model – both units acting in “3-hole mode”

Actually, you don’t need to install.  Just put the dehumidifier in a room and vent moisture to the outside even through a slightly opened window.  Often used for flood drying.

EPD200 / DH35XX

Inside room being dried pressure neutrale.g. cold room “4 -hole mode”. Ceiling mount with C-Clips.

EPD200 / DH35XX

Inside room being dried pressure neutrale.g. cold room “4 -hole mode”.  Exhaust duct on  decline

EPD200 / DH35XX

Inside room being dried example in simple “3 hole mode” .  Could have been placed with C-Clips to the wall on it’s side.

Example B – pressure neutral drying with EPD200 / DH35XX Only

Place model inside or outside the room being dried.  Application is ideal for drying cabinets.  To understand more about constructing a drying cabinet you can

Example C – cold room application EPD200 / DH35XX

Example D – If heat gain is an issue in drying EPD200 / DH35XX

Example E – Pressure neutral drying with possible no heat gain  EPD150 / DH25XX

Example F – mounting outside the room EPD150 / DH25XX

DON’T TREAT IT AS A FAN THAT GIVES INSTANT, TOTALLY DRY AIR

Every time air passes through the DryFan it is dried about 30% and again by 30% for every repeated cycle through the DryFan.

Note on restoration applications.   In restoration, the common way to focus dry (see above example picture) is indeed to use these dehumidifiers in “Three Hole Mode” and positively dry.  The DH35XX /EPD200 has an option of “Four Hole Mode” which allows neutral drying and a fairly unique way of efficiently drying spaces. Although, positive drying does have a benefit as air used is always dryer than the ambient, by far the most effective way to dry is neutral pressure.

Water can go upwards & the ducts can be extended

Take care not to let any condensation that can build up in the exhaust duct during certain cold conditions return into the dehumidifier.  If longer ducting is required consider using wider ducting than prescribed.
